Rouen & Honfleur Day Tour
Tour Normandy differently and discover the historical capital of Normandy, Rouen: learn about Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orleans, the Patron Saint of France and see the square where she was burned at the stake near the Old Market. During your walking tour, visit the stunning Cathedral of Rouen that inspired Monet, Father of French Impressionist painting who represented more than thirty canvases of its facade. See the Town Hall (Hotel de Ville), the Gros Horloge and if the time permits the Joan of Arc tower.
We will finish the tour in Honfleur, "the City of Painters", especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind, forming the School/Ecole de Honfleur which contributed to the appearance of the Impressionist movement . Visit the marvelous 15th Century Sainte-Catherine church, which has a bell-tower separate from the principal building; it is the largest church made out of wood of France. See the Vieux Bassin, the Lieutenance, walk in the old part of town, enjoy its boutiques and painting galleries.
